MAF Chinese New Year Party is featured on 看中国 ( Regarde Sur la Chine), one of the most read Chinese newspapers in France.

Malaysia is a multicultural and multiracial country. In France, the Chinese Malaysians are gathering together to celebrate Chinese New Year.

On 17th 2018, MAF has organised an annual CNY lunch in Le President Restaurant, located in Belleville Paris. The French ex-minister ( Olivier Stern ), Malaysia ambassador in France ( Date Ibrahim Adbullah), the Minister of Women, Family and Society ( Hon Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim ), Malaysia UNESCO ambassador ( Dr Anesse Ibrahim ) have attended this festive event.

MAF’s president Mr Yap Choon Choong remarked that in France, the Malaysian Chinese community is taking the CNY event very seriously. The number of people has been expanding that now, the event cannot be held in any small restaurants anymore. Thats why we are organising it in Le President Restaurant. We hope to expand our Malaysian community in France, hoping that the voice of Malaysians can be heard, and the image of Malaysians can be seen in Paris.

The Malaysian ambassador mentioned that this is his second time celebrating this event with everyone and he is very happy to see everyone gathering here to enjoy this blissful moment together.

The French ex minister had been visiting Malaysia numerous times and thus, having a deep relationship with Malaysia. He wishes everyone to have a healthy and successful year ahead in 2018.

The Minister of Women, Family and Society rushed to the event once landed in Paris. She has given her blessings to everyone in the event.

One of the unique culture during CNY in Malaysia is “Lao Sheng”. Everyone will say good words while stirring up the mixtures of colourful salad and fresh raw fish with plum sauce using chopsticks. This particular activity has made the event more festive.

Besides, the lunch had a lot of performances such as face changing, malaysian martial art, dances and etc. A French performer has expressed that he loves malaysian martial art so much that he has been practising it for more than 20 years. His silat performance in inviting the minister has been lauded by everyone.
